Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! Here are my favorites for the week.

1. This foundation.
I used to use a much more expensive one (around $70), so I'm very happy that I found this one recently (it's only $39).  I have received so many compliments on my skin since I've started using it.  It has a natural look to it, so you don't feel like you're caked on with foundation like some other brands, but it provides build-able coverage too.

2. dineL.A. Restaurant Week!
It's one of my favorite weeks of the year!  dineL.A. Restaurant Week is a 14-day dining event that takes place in over 300 restaurants throughout L.A. county, offering specially priced lunch and dinner menus.  I will be dining at one of the participating restaurants this weekend.  For a complete list of participating restaurants, go here.

3. Spin Class
I recently started taking spin class again at my gym (the last time I did spin was probably 6 years ago) and once again, I love it!  It's super high intensity and burns a zillion calories.  My type of workout!

4. Trader Joe's Organic Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper Soup
I tried this for the first time this week and now I'm sad I missed out on eating it for so many years.   It's amazing.  Go buy it.  Nutrition data available here for my health-conscious foodies.

5. Chameleon Mexican Cold Brew Iced Coffee
This cold brew is sold exclusively at Whole Foods (click here to see where it's available).  It's blended with cinnamon, almond milk, and vanilla.  I add milk to it, a few ice cubs, and sip happily.  I'll do a review post of this cold brew soon.

Have a great weekend!

What's Up Wednesday

Today, I am linking up with Shay for my fifth "What's Up Wednesday," which consists of answering the following questions, plus the bonus question, "What is your favorite Valentine's Day Treat?"

1. What We're Eating This Week
I'm doing a three-month fitness challenge at the gym so I've been eating healthy. Breakfast is usually a protein smoothie. Lunch is usually a salad.  And dinner is usually protein, a healthy carb, and veggies. In particular, I've been eating a lot of chicken and turkey.

2. What I'm Reminiscing About's my favorite time of the year and it went by WAY too fast.

3. What I'm Loving
The days slowly getting longer again. When I left work yesterday, it was still a little bit light out which made me so happy. Leaving work when it's dark is depressing.

4. What We've Been Up To
A lot of late nights at work these past two weeks because of audits.

5. What I'm Dreading
More rain coming from El Nino...we're getting more rain next week, and when that happens, no one knows how to drive out here.  We Californians are just not used to rain. ;)

6. What I'm Working On
My 3-month fitness challenge competition at the gym. The boot camps are killer and always make for an awesome workout.

7. What I'm Excited About
The temperature slowly warming up.  Today it was sunny and 70 degrees out.

8. What I'm Watching/Reading
I'm about to start watching the X-Files! I recorded the first two episodes and I'm excited to watch them. Back in the day, I was a HUGE X-Files fan and watched every episode until Mulder left. After that, the show just wasn't the same without him.  #mulderandscullyforever

9. What I'm Listening To
Adele's new album 25. So good!

10. What I'm Wearing
Right now I'm wearing my gym clothes because I'm too pooped to get up and shower.

11. What I'm Doing This Weekend
Having dinner with friends at one of my favorite pizza joints in Los Angeles. Take a look at this work of art they serve there.

12. What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
Going to Lake Arrowhead with friends for a ski weekend. There should be plenty of snow given El Nino this year, and we're staying in a huge, cozy, cabin.

13. What Else is New
I'm thinking of chopping off my hair and going short...yay or nay? Here's my current length (I'm on the left).

14. What is your favorite Valentine's Day Treat?
I would have to say Godiva chocolate, specifically their extra dark chocolate truffle, which I think they have discontinued. :( I'm hoping they come out with a substitute soon.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm looking forward to reading all the other posts.

Favorite Scents

Today, I am linking up with Sweet Little Ones for "Tuesday Talk" and sharing my six favorite scents.  I generally tend to stick to one scent for a while until I get sick of it, and then I switch to another one for a few months, and so forth. I would have to say my two absolute favorite scents are Viktor & Rolf's Flower Bomb (which I wear mostly in the spring and summer months) and Thierry Mugler's Alien (which I wear mostly in the fall and winter months).  When wearing these two scents, I always use the matching body lotion or cream, which makes such a huge difference because the scent tends to last the whole day.

1.  Victor & Rolf Flower Bomb
This is the first perfume that became a favorite of mine.  I discovered it about 9 years ago while flipping through a magazine that had a sample of it.  One whiff of it and I was hooked!  I purchased it the next day.  The body cream that I use with their perfume is this one.  It's a bit thicker than the body lotion, so a little goes a long way, which is good because the cream is pricier than the lotion.

Notes:  Sambac Jasmine, Centifolia Rose, Cattleya Orchid, Ballerina Freesia, Patchouli.
Style:  Oriental. Gourmand. Floral.

2.  Thierry Mugler Alien
I get so many compliments on this scent and always have people asking me what I am wearing.  The body lotion that I use with their perfume is this one.

Notes:  Solar Accord, Sambac Jasmine, Green Notes, Cashmeran, Vanilla, Transparent Amber.
Style:  Mysterious. Soothing. Magnetic.

3.  Michael Kors
This is the scent that you smell as soon as you walk into a Michael Kors store.  Yum!

Notes:  Dewy Freesia, Tamarind, Chinese Osmanthus, Incense, Fresh Tuberose, White Wings Peony, Blue Orris, Arum Lilies, Cashmere Woods, Musk, Vetiver Haiti.
Style:  Sophisticated. Sensual. Warm.

4.  Armani Code (Pour Femme)
This used to be my second favorite scent after Flower Bomb, until I was introduced to Alien.  I still love wearing this in the summer, though, to change things up.

Notes:  Blood Orange, Ginger, Pear Sorbet, Sambac Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Seringa Flower, Lavender Honey, Precious Woods Complex, Vanilla.
Style:  Fresh. Sexy. Feminine.

5.  Paco Rabanne Lady Million
My dad bought this for me from Europe as a gift.  I love the way the bottle looks and is shaped.

Notes:  Neroli, Lily of the Valley, Gardenia, Hyacinth, Patchouli, Honey.
Style:  Determined. Brilliant. Playful.

6.  Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium
This is the newest scent that I have.  I received a deluxe sample of it from Sephora and immediately loved it!  Once I finish the sample, I plan on purchasing the full sized bottle.

Notes:  Coffee Accord, Orange Blossom, Cedarwood Essence, Patchouli Essense.
Style:  Addictive. Floral. Energetic.

If you have any favorite scents, please share!  I love hearing what other people spritz on.

Favorite Golden Globe Gowns

I love watching awards shows, but mainly for the beautiful fashion. Half the time, I've only seen a few of the movies or shows that are nominated, so I'm not too concerned with who is nominated and which actors and/or films win.

Here are my favorite gowns from the Golden Globe Awards that were held yesterday. I loved all the colors! I would have to say my favorite gown was the one worn by Jenna Dewan Tatum.

1. Jenna Dewan Tatum
I loved everything about this dress, but I especially loved the pockets...because every girl can use a ballgown with pockets.

2.  Amy Adams
I could never pull off orange, but she looked great!

3.  Eva Longoria
The belt and the detailing on Eva's dress were so pretty!

4.  Julianne Moore
I loved this dress because of the sleeves and the sparkle.

5.  Zendaya
This dress was beautiful, but I think it's a bit too overwhelming on Zendaya's slim frame.

What were your favorite dresses?

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I have been counting the days to Friday since Monday since this was my first week back at work since the Christmas break.

Here are my favorites for the week:

1. My coworker brought me back this handmade necklace from her holiday in India. So pretty! I can't wait to wear it. I love chunky pieces.

2. This dry shampoo. I've tried many dry shampoos over the years, and this one is by far my favorite. If you have dark hair like I do, I recommend getting this tinted version instead of the original one.

3. These Tory Burch ballet flats. I brought them after Christmas on sale. They are super comfy because they don't have the hard leather band in the back that some of the older Reva flats do (the band cuts into my skin after a while).

4.  This adorable pink Valentino bag (so me, but sadly, super expensive...why must all the pretty things be so pricey?!)  For those who aren't as obsessed with the color pink like I am, here's the version in black.

5. The Bachelor
Yes, one of my favorite shows is back (it's a guilty pleasure of mine because I love getting sucked into the drama) and this year, they have Bachelor Fantasy Draft! My coworkers and I each completed a draft and we're anxiously waiting to see who will rack up the most points.

Below are my picks. I chose Lauren B. (the flight attendant) as the winner because she seems down to earth, genuine, sweet, and charming. It's the type of girl I picture Ben choosing. And although I initially thought before the season started that Ben was too boring, he is growing on me and I do think he's one of the most genuine bachelors that have been on the show and he is truly there to find the right woman.

Happy Friday!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I don't know about you, but I am so glad 2015 is over.

I was on vacation for about 10 days, which was so lovely. I went home for the holidays and spent it with my family and friends. I didn't snap too many pictures, but here are a few of my time spent.

I went go cart racing, which sounds fun, but was actually terrifying to me. I was the slowest of the group...I drove like a granny and was lapped several times.

Here's some of the Christmas decor at my company's holiday party.  My coworker found this idea on Pinterest where you create fake snow in a jar and then string lights in there.  Super pretty!  The snow lasts about 3 weeks.  You can find a similar idea here.  I ended up winning the center piece so I got to bring it home with me.

Christmas tree at my parent's pretty!

I went to Malibu and spent some time at the beach.  This is why living in southern California is so awesome-- the weather is nice enough to visit the beach even in December.

And finally, here are my New Year's Resolutions:
  1. Read one book per month (i.e. 12 books per year).  I think this will be doable since one book per month is not too hard of a goal.  The catch for me is that I usually wait until I'm in bed and dead tired to read, which is not a good combo, because then I end up falling asleep.
  2. And along those lines...sleep earlier!  I'm hoping to get 8 hours a night during the week.
  3. And finally...create a budget and stick to it!  I've downloaded the iphone app Pennies to help keep me on track.  It's relatively simple and easy to use.
Tomorrow, as part of my Friday Favorites, I'll be posting my Bachelor Fantasy Draft picks.  For those of you who have not yet done the draft or heard of it, you can download it here (Week 2 is already decided based on Monday night's show, so just fill out Weeks 3 to 9 before next Monday's show).

Here's hoping your 2016 has been off to a great start!
