Friday Favorites

Oh happy's finally Friday! I hope you had an awesome week. Here are my favorites for the week.

1. The New York Times Food Pinterest page. I was so excited when I found this page (click here to see it). It was like hitting a recipe gold mine. I'm going to make this recipe on the weekend. It's Oven-Roasted Chicken Shawarma. How good does that look? And the ingredients are so simple. Yum.

2. This hand lotion. It's been so hot and dry in southern California that my hands have become red and irritated. I was using my regular hand lotion but it just wasn't cutting it, so I purchased this after reading the rave reviews. Totally worth it. Love this stuff.

3.   Candbury Mini-Eggs.  I may or may not have bought three bags of this because it's only around at Easter time.  I blame my best friend for introducing me to these in high school.  I have been hooked on them ever since. #noshame

4.  This mask.  It's seriously the best one I've tried.  Ever.  I use it once a week.  Put a thin layer on, wait about 20 minutes or so, rinse it off, and prepare to be amazed.  You will notice that all your blackheads have magically vanished.  Yes, this little container is a bit pricey, but it's so worth it.  Hey, it's cheaper than a facial, right?

5.  Peet's Coffee!  Between now and March 9th, you can get half off any beverage.  Just print or show this coupon.  Don't their drinks always come out so pretty too?

Have a wonderful weekend!

What's Up Wednesday

Hello Wednesday! Today, I am linking up with Shay for my sixth "What's Up Wednesday," which consists of answering the following questions, plus the bonus question, "What is your favorite Easter tradition?"

1. What We're Eating This Week
I have the same thing for breakfast every day during the week: Greek yogurt with granola and blueberries. Lunch is usually soup or a sandwich. And dinner is pretty simple. I'll usually have some sort of protein, a healthy carb, and veggies. Here are some of my dinners from this week.

2. What I'm Reminiscing About
My trip up to Lake Arrowhead earlier this month with friends. It was beautiful!

3. What I'm Loving
The warmer weather! It will be low 80s the whole week, which is my ideal temperature.

4. What We've Been Up To
I have been working, going to the movies, having game nights with friends, and enjoying the warmer weather.

5. What I'm Dreading
Going back to the gym today. I've been sick and haven't worked out for 3 weeks so I'm not looking forward to it. I know the first day is always the hardest...I just have to get through it!

6. What I'm Working On
My taxes. :( I have to organize all my papers soon and dig everything up so I can go to my accountant.

7. What I'm Excited About
Trying some new recipes from the New York Times food board that I found on Pinterest. You can find the board here.

8. What I'm Watching/Reading
I have been watching the People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story. So good. I was very young when the trial took place, so it's riveting to watch the series.

9. What I'm Listening To
My Frank Sinatra station on Pandora. I've been doing a lot of food prep on the weekends for the week, and for some reason, I always have to listen to Sinatra when I cook.

10. What I'm Wearing
Right now I am wearing these super comfy pants and a white blouse.

11. What I'm Doing This Weekend
Organizing my closet. Well, more like purging, I should say. Overall, it's pretty organized but I have clothes I no longer wear that I need to donate or sell on Poshmark (you can find my Poshmark closet here to shop it). You can also get a $10 credit to use when you join using code HIUXW. I should make a general rule of donating or selling one item each time I buy something.

12. What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
Easter! Holy Week is one of my favorite weeks.

13. What Else is New
I found this shirt last weekend and they only had it in a small, but how perfect is it?  I also found this one that I might get instead. It also speaks of the importance of coffee. ;)

14. What is your Favorite Easter Tradition?
As kids, we would dye Easter eggs the day before Easter. On Easter morning, we would have an egg smash game for breakfast. Each person took turns smashing another person's egg with his/her own egg. The last egg standing in the end would be the winner. I'm not sure where this tradition stemmed from, but I have some friends who do the same thing, so it must be somewhat well known.

Thanks for stopping by!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I am so glad the weekend is here so I can sleep in. I have been sick for the past two weeks and I'm finally on the mend and starting to feel normal again.  As always, here are my favorites for the week.

1. Beauty Blender
I know I'm late to the party, but I finally broke down and purchased one of these to try (in this color). Yes, it's a bit overpriced for a small sponge, essentially, but it makes your makeup look flawless! I am a fan. Be sure to buy this cleaning solution with it-- it will help remove every last bit of makeup from it.

2. Caudalie
I recently started using Caudalie's line of moisturizers and serums on my face for both day and night and I am a huge fan of this brand now.  It's French and a lot of their products are formulated with grape extract.  For night, I've started using this cell renewal night cream, and it is amazing.  It is a little on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way.  It's basically an exfoliating cream that works overnight while you sleep so you wake up to brighter, smoother skin. #fan

3. The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story
I've watched the first two episodes of this and I am hooked! So good. I was very young when the trial took place, so it's riveting to watch the series.

4. You Don't Know Jacques
My new favorite color!  I usually wear dark polish and this is one of favorites right now-- it's a mix between brown and gray.  Available here.

5. Sugar Rush by Johnny Iuzzini
I found this book at Home Goods and had to get it. Not only are the pictures stunning, but the recipes are written in such a way that are very easy to follow. Available here.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Recap

Hi there!  Happy Wednesday.

I came back from my weekend trip sick, so this is the first day I'm finally feeling better.  Below are some scenic pictures of Lake Arrowhead. There wasn't a lot of snow present, and the weather wasn't too cold (around 50 degrees F during the day), so I didn't get to wear all my cold-weather clothing.  But it was still nice to escape and change scenery-- going somewhere cold and snowy always makes me feel like I am no longer in California. :)  All in all, it was a fun weekend:  we spent it relaxing, cooking, playing board games, and chit chatting by the fire.
