Thank you for the memories!

The old man is snoring

It's been raining non-stop in L.A. this entire weekend, which means one thing: horrendous traffic. For some reason, Californians don't know how to drive in the rain; it's their kryptonite. The only upside to this while being stuck in traffic that crawled on for miles was this:

Isn't it lovely? Happy weekend everyone!

Everything's better on ice

Did anyone catch the ice dancing finals last night of the Olympics? All the couples were amazing, especially Canada's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who won gold. Is it just me, or does Tessa bear a slight resemblance to Kristen Stewart of the "Twilight" movies?

Perhaps the *most* amazing pairs skating program I ever saw was during the 1994 Littlehammer Olympics by the Russian husband and wife team of Sergei Grinkov and Ekaterina Gordeeva to Moonlight Sonata.

If it's painful, it must be working right?

Yesterday was Day 1 of the "30 Day Shred" and oh my goodness, I can barely walk down stairs today. I feel like a 90 year old woman. Sleepy, dormant muscles have been awakened! I barely got through Day 2 today due to the soreness.

I will now go soak in a tub of ice. That is, if I can even crawl into a tub of ice.

Shreding Away...

I am so excited! I'm starting a workout video tomorrow (for the record, I have never done a workout video, so I'm a bit nervous...I've always been a gym or tennis rat instead). A friend and I who are in grad school together decided to do this video in tandem for a month to keep ourselves motivated and to compare results, and because grad school is evil and we've both gained some weight already.

Does anyone out there want to join us or has anyone tried this video? It's Jillian Michaels' "30 Day Shred" and can be purchased through Amazon for about $9. Though the DVD promises that you can "lose up to 20 lbs in 30 days," I doubt my fat cells will freely shrink to that extent and so quickly. However, the Amazon reviews were favorable for both weight loss and the ease of finding time to do this daily (it's about a 25 minute workout), so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'll post reviews of the workout video as I go through it, as well as my total weight loss at the end of the 30 days. Wish me luck! Hello sweat, buh bye fat!

Long Live Scooter!

I have had absolutely no time to post since last week due to school work insanity, but I have been watching the Olympics when I've had time (particularly figure skating-- anyone else watching?).

This commercial has been constantly playing during during the games, and I get a kick out of it every time, so I thought I'd share it...enjoy!

St. Valentine's Day

Happy St. Valentine's Day, everyone! Yes, let's not forget the true reason for this holiday, as I blogged last year.

What is love to you?

It's snowing rice krispies

Here I am all grumpy that it's raining all weekend in so cal, when my poor friends back east are faced with crazy amounts of snow. While I happen to think it's a beautiful winter wonderland (see picture of conditions back east sent to me via mms), I'm sure that if I lived there and *I* was snowed in, I wouldn't think it to be such a wonderland.

Last night I made some fudge, and I happened to take some pictures of the process, so I will post both the receipe and the pictures this week.

For Valentine's Day next weekend, I will be making some chocolate covered rice krispie treats. While I've made rice krispie treats many many times before, I've never dipped them in chocolate or decorated them with red and pink stay tuned...they will either turn out lovely and yummy, or a total disaster yet yummy.

Ideally, they will look like this picture I found online. In reality, if I manage to have them look 10% like this picture, I will be happy.

Back to studying I go...oh grad school, how you kill my weekend fun.

What shade is your grass?

I'm too tired to post today (I had to get up at 4:30 am for work this morning, which is my personal idea of torture) so I will instead leave you with a visual of a saying I've always heard:

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Hope you all had a wonderful start to the week!
