Friday Favorites

Good morning! Happy Friday. This has felt like the longest week ever, so YAY to it finally being done. I'm linking up with Andrea today for my 5 favorite things from the week.

1. Chameleon Cold Brew
It has been so hot this week in L.A. that I have had no desire to drink hot coffee in the morning. I've been having this cold brew all week. It has a delicious hint of chocolate AND is unsweetened.  Double win. I blogged about it earlier this month, so you can read all about it here.

2.  FitBit Flex
I love this little gadget.  I use my FitBit Flex daily and even wear it to bed because it tracks my sleep.  Having this is especially motivating because my coworkers and I do weekly step challenges, so this helps me keep moving on days I want to veg out.

3.  FitBit Flex Bracelet
When I'm at work in a professional setting, I pop my flex out of the rubber band and put it in my Tory Burch FitBit Bracelet so it blends in with my other jewelry.  It comes in gold, rose gold, and silver.

4.  Kate:  The Future Queen by Katie Nicholl
I just started reading this book because I love all things Kate.  I even have a Pinterest board dedicated to her fabulous style. :)  You can find the book here.

5.  My Fitness Pal App
I've been using this app daily since I started working out more consistently.  I love how I can scan in food labels instead of manually adding something I just ate.  It also shows you your macros (percentage and grams of carbs, fat and protein) and your nutrients, so you can easily see if you're short on anything.  Here's a screenshot of what my food diary looked like on Wednesday.  You can download the app for free on the iTunes store.

Have a great weekend!

Tailgate Tuesday

Hello there! I wasn't planning on posting today because it's so late in the day, but I decided to link up to Sweet Little Ones for "Tuesday Talk" and Love, Fun and Football for "Tailgate Tuesday."

So, I must confess, I'm not much of a football fan. I didn't grow up in a die hard football family, and I think that's party because my parents didn't grow up here in the states (I was born in Europe and came here when I was 6). Instead, I grew up watching and playing tennis (I've been playing since I was 10).

I finally got a good introduction to football during grad school when I tagged along with friends to games.  The atmosphere was so fun and it was a blast sitting in the student section, even though I would leave there partially deaf.  You can view some pictures from a previous post here.  Although I still don't understand all the rules or how everything works, I appreciate the game much more now because I understand it a bit better.

Other than tennis and UCLA football, I love watching hockey (I'm an L.A. Kings fan).  I especially love watching live hockey during playoffs.  There's nothing quite like playoff atmosphere...the crowd is absolutely electric, especially in L.A., which has won two cups in the last three years (2012 and 2014).  Here are a few pictures from another post I did a few years ago from playoffs.

Signing the playoff banner at Staples Center, with my Starbucks in hand to stay awake.

 Happy Tuesday!

Brew Review

This week has been so busy at work that I have been unable to post anything. And to make matters worse, I injured my back at the gym so I am hobbling around like an old person. I guess that means I'll have more time to blog since I won't be at the gym.

Since it's mid-week, it's time for the second weekly brew review!  This review was inspired by the cold brew I had this morning:  Chameleon Cold Brew Mocha Coffee.  I first discovered this cold brew at Sprouts (a store I LOVE, by the way-- I visit there weekly for fresh produce), and I had to try it because it's mocha flavored BUT without any sugar (I prefer my coffee unsweetened since adding milk tends to make the drink naturally sweet).

While this coffee isn't as strong as the one I posted about last week, it's super smooth tasting with just the right amount of unsweetened chocolate.  It tastes a bit like drinking chocolate milk with a mild hint of coffee.  The bottle it comes in has 4 ounce markers on the side, so you can always accurately pour 4 ounces of the concentrate and then either add equal parts milk or water (I prefer milk because it makes the drink creamier).  Then just add a few ice cubes and your morning coffee is ready for consumption!

If you don't have a Sprouts near you, you can also find this at Target (though for some reason I didn't find it on the Target website).  You can also order directly from the company's website (they are an Austin-based company).  This cold brew flavor comes in a 32 oz bottle (makes 8 drinks), or a smaller 16 oz bottle (makes 4 drinks).

 Happy Wednesday!
