A suitable suit

I love shopping; it comes with being a girl. However, tell me that I have to go suit shopping, and I immediately loath the whole ordeal. Yes, I call it an ordeal. Why? Because I have such a hard time finding suits that fit me well. It's as if they are all designed for one body type. And what's worse is that you can't mix the jacket and pant sizes if they come as a set, so it's a bit limiting.

I needed a suit for work so I ended up at Nordstrom Rack in search of one. It took me almost three hours to find something that fit and looked decent. I ended up with a light gray one and a black one. I've decided that if I ever win the lottery, I will open a store specializing in suits for women of all body types, and with the possibility of mixing and matching sizes. Oh, and they will be affordable...what's with the $795 Burberry suit I saw there? Crazy. And that was the discounted price.

Does anyone have any favorite suit brands and/or stores to shop at for suits? Recommendations are most appreciated. :)

  2. I love ann taylor. They are wonderful. One day my ann taylor pants had a tear in them and I had a big meeting in a couple of hours. I ran to the store to get a new pair. I showed the ladies what happend and the store actually gave me a new pair of pants for free. I had the pants for a long time, they didn't care, they replaced with no questions. I wasn't even looking for them to replace them for free, I just needed new pants! Great customer service.

  3. I'm just so glad I don't have to wear suits anymore. When I first got out of college, though, I had a job at a PR firm and I remember going suit shopping and buying a bunch of them. Then having to keep them dry cleaned all the time. Ick! My office (like so many others these days) is business casual which mostly means khakis and whatever shirt passes for "not a T-shirt!"

  4. I can't say I've ever worn a suit. Based on how some of them look I can't say I'm eager to give it a whirl. :)

  5. I'm afraid I don't know of any! I would say to find a good tailor who'll fix'em up for you. Tailoring was sent from God!! clothedmuch.blogspot.com

  6. Jasmin, I hate shopping...LOL. I don't like anything about shopping and I prolong and procrastinate every shopping trip I have to take...there is no such of a thing as fun window shopping for me. The words shopping and fun can not co-exist in the same sentence...LOL

I'm glad you like it. Do you want to do all mine?

  7. oh, but the expensive ones always look the best! I always like the suit separates at The Limited. Their cuts are more modern than some other brands. And Ann Taylor. I live in Ann Taylor.
