So I usually don't blog on weekends, but I just came back from seeing the movie "District 9." I love director Peter Jackon's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy-- so much so that I own the extended edition for all the movies on DVD.
However, his latest movie is beyond bad. I hated every minute of it. At one point I had my head covered in my hoodie to avoid all the gruesome and squeamish parts. My previous worst movie had been "Lady in the Water," but now "District 9" has taken that not-so-special honor.
What were you thinking, Mr. Jackson? Aliens that eat cat food and like to collect junk? Really? I should have insisted that I see "Julie & Julia" instead. I hope I don't have nightmares about cat food eating aliens tonight.

I gotta give you props...you're a bigger movie buff than me. You always beat me to the theatres to watch a movie that I want to see.
ReplyDeletei loved julie and julia! stopping by from SITS to say hi - great to see another los angeles blogger!
ReplyDeletethanks for the heads up on that one!
ReplyDeletejust dropping by from SITs to say hi; hope you'll do the same.
I agree about Lady in the Water. I can't stand when a director has so many great movies and than does a total crapper! Good Sunday from SITS
ReplyDeleteAmen...
ReplyDeleteAnd I am reading Julie and Julia right now. Cant wait to see that movie.
Thanks for the warning. I hate gory movies.
ReplyDeleteDropped by from SITS.
That sucks, I was looking forward to District 9. I'm sure I'll still go watch it, just with lower expectations :)
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look all that good to me to be honest. I might have given it a shot because I like Jackson, but now I think I'll just pass.
ReplyDeletei went and thought it was totally riveting and compelling - but that's what makes the world such an interesting place, how one movie can be enjoyed or not by so many!
ReplyDeleteour love of coffee tho - we DEF have that in common
here from sits!
