Vacay Pictures!

For those wondering about yesterday's post, I was up in San Francisco for the 4th. Although I've been to the city several times before, I always enjoy the sights, so photo snapping is a must for me.

Below are some my favorite pictures from the trip (click on images to enlarge). Tomorrow I will post some yummy restaurant recommendations. Those who know me are aware that I am notorious for snapping pictures of my dishes when dining at new restaurants and/or when on vacation.

Chinatown
San Francisco's Chinatown is the oldest in North America, as well as the most densely populated neighborhood in the most densely populated city in California.

Market Street
A major transit artery for the city: Market Street has had horse-drawn street cars, cable cars, electric streetcars, and diesel buses. Although there are no longer any cable cars, the cable car lines that have survived end at the side of Market Street.

Fisherman's Wharf
Supposedly, the World Famous Bushman, a local street performer who resides at the wharf, likes to hide in bushes and startle people walking by. Luckily, I was not victim to this.

Fisherman's Wharf sea lions
They are known as "Sea Lion-ebrities" for being camped out at Pier 39 and have many visitors flock to see them.

Alcatraz IslandAlso known as 'The Rock,' this was a federal prison until 1963 and housed famous inmates such as Al Capone.

Saints Peter & Paul Church
The original church, built in 1884, was destroyed by the 1906 earthquake and fire. The church that stands today was completed in 1924.

Old Saint Mary's Church
This is the oldest Catholic church in San Francisco (built in 1854).

San Francisco's NOB Hill
Many of the hotels in this area (the Fairmont, the Mark Hopkins, the Stanford Court, and the Huntington) were built over the ruins of the former mansions.

  2. I love your pictures!

The Bushman is totally terrifying if you're not expecting him, btw. No one warned me before I went there!

  3. I heard about him while I was there...I was so glad he was not around! I probably would have smacked him out of fear, haha.
